Board Chairman of Media General, Professor Kojo Yankah has said the growth of TV3 and other subsidiaries of the group is an indication that something is being done right by the leadership.
Beginning with just one station some twenty five years ago, the conglomerate can now boast of more than eight subsidiaries, a success Prof. Yankah credited the board, management and staff, present and past, with.
Professor Yankah was the Minister of Information at the time TV3 was established. That was the period when the then Rawlings administration had started giving license to private stations to operate.
Speaking at the 25th anniversary event in Accra on Friday September 30, 2022, the Founder of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) said “I must say that we have a great story to tell. From one station we called TV3, the industry or the company has grown to eight or nine subsidiaries now, and it is still growing.
“This shows that something good is happening inside there. It doesn’t mean that there were no challenges, there have been challenges. There have been periods where the very basis of the organization has been shaken but throughout all these years, what has helped is that the board has helped management to steer correctly into terrains that have brought us this far.”
For her part, a member of the board of Media General, Norkor Duah told the management and staff that the consumer is king in whatever the station does.
To that end, she said customer satisfaction must always be at the centre of its operations.
“For me, one of the key things I will want us to take out of this is, the consumer is always king. You cannot charter business, especially in what we find ourselves in, this sort of network, without understanding what your consumer wants.
“You have held the Ghanaian viewer over the 25 years with solid contents, with contents that have changed their lives and you have seen the number of entertaining moment that we have given Ghanaians.
“We have seen the number of times that you have brought in news that is worthy.”
