Two persons have died with several others sustaining varying degrees of injuries in a Tuesday, December 23, 2025 accident that occurred at Abakam on the Cape Coast – Takoradia Highway. 

The Ghana National Fire Service in a Facebook post said the collision involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 2455-25 and a Sprinter bus registered as WR 316-24.

According to the Service, firefighters from the Elmina Fire Station responded to the scene after receiving a distress call at 5:11 a.m. and secured the area, cleared debris, and worked to prevent secondary accidents while restoring the free flow of traffic along the busy highway.

It said four of the victims were rushed to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital, where two of them were later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, ten other victims were taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. The condition of these patients has not been disclosed.
