Security operatives at the Paga border in the Upper East Region have arrested a 33-year-old woman for allegedly possessing and selling fake and unwholesome drugs.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuella Aenge–Bisi, was jointly apprehended by personnel from the Defence Intelligence, the National Bureau of Investigations, National Security, and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
According to security operatives, the arrest followed intelligence gathered on her selling of the unregistered products in the area.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to selling the fake aphrodisiac and waist pain remedies to unsuspecting patrons without the necessary registration and approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.
She further disclosed that she worked with her Nigerian husband to make the products using eggshells as a primary ingredient.
The products are then packaged and marketed as effective treatments for sexual enhancement and body pains.

A subsequent search conducted at her residence by the joint security team led to the retrieval of additional quantities of the fake drugs, as well as packaging materials believed to have been used in their distribution.
Authorities have expressed concern about the potential health risks posed by unapproved and counterfeit drugs, warning the public to exercise caution when purchasing medicinal products and to verify that such items have been approved by the FDA.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Paga Police for detention while investigations continue.
Officials say she is expected to assist with ongoing inquiries to identify any other individuals involved in the production and distribution of the illicit products.
