Students of Kansaam Junior High School in the Mirigu Traditional Area in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region are studying in a dilapidated mud classroom block which is a threat to their lives as well as teachers.
The structure was built by the community in 2023 due to lack of JHS as students who completed primary school have to travel far distance of about three to five kilometers to access education.
Currently, the student population is below forty students and a new set of primary six graduates are expected to be admitted into JHS one.

As a result of the state of the school, parents are sacrificing to take their wards to far to reach communities despite the distance due to the poor state of the mud school structure.

When contacted, the Development Chief of the Mirigu Traditional Area, Naba Baba Abemnia Ayelazuno said the situation at the school is worrying and all efforts to get a facelift for the school in a more comfortable structure is not successful.
He added that the Paramount Chief together with the Council are trying their best to improve on all educational infrastructure in the area.

Naba Baba Abemnia Ayelazuno is therefore appealing to individuals, Philanthropists, government and organizations to come to the aid of the school to avert any disaster.
School is expected to resume in less than three weeks and these students faith is hanging in the balance as far as teaching and learning is concerned.
