Inadequate staff at Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Hospital in the central region is affecting quality health delivery to the people.

The Hospital was inaugurated in the year 2020 by the former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but has not seen any recruitment of personnel, which is putting lives at risk.

The Administrator of the Hospital, Dr. Peter Tetteh, revealed this during a recent visit by the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Chief Executive, Isaac Yawson, and the Central Regional representative of the Council of State, Hakim Addei, who also happens to be the Twifo Atti-Morkwa National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman.

Dr. Tetteh outlined pressing need for various medical professionals, including paramedical staff, radiologists, stenographers, and specialists, as well as critical infrastructural support such as staff accommodations, a generator, service vehicles, an ambulance, and enhanced lighting around the Hospital.

He emphasized that the Hospital has been relying on renting temporary staff, which has strained its resources and negatively impacted operations.

“The financial burden of hiring temporary staff is unsustainable and poses significant risks to our ability to provide timely and effective care”, Dr. Tetteh explained.

The Administrator is urgently calling on the government for the immediate recruitment of permanent staff and the provision of essential resources to improve healthcare services in the region.

The DCE, Isaac Yawson assured that alternative solutions would be sought promptly to address the pressing issues facing the hospital.

He acknowledged the critical situation and committed to working closely with the health authorities.

The Central Regional Council of State Representative, Hakim Addei also encouraged the hospital staff and administration, reinforcing that efforts are underway to align with the “Restoring Ghana” agenda of President John Mahama.

He pledged to meet with the Health Minister to advocate for permanent staffing solutions and adequate accommodations for hospital personnel, all aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery at the Hospital.
