The University of Professional Studies (UPSA) has conferred a honorary doctorate degree, ‘honorary causa’ on the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

The University gave her the award for her role in impacting lives in education and health and also for the setting up of the Rebecca Foundation to empower the vulnerable, especially women and children.

She was joined by the President, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to receive the award.

She received the honour together with former Speaker of Parliament Justice Joyce Bamford Addo.

She was given the honour for her role in improving the justice system and for her remarkable service to Ghana in parliamentary proceedings.

Justice Georgina Theodora Woode, Ghana’s first female Chief Justice, was also given a doctorate degree of laws for her role in improving the justice system, introducing the alternative dispute resolution and her drive in empowering women.
