The Wa Municipal Assembly has donated 300 pieces of school uniforms to pupils of Tendamba Model Primary School in the Upper West Region as part of efforts to improve the school’s image, encourage enrollment, and enhance teaching and learning.

The donation was led by the Municipal Chief Executive of Wa, Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana, who said the initiative fulfilled a promise he made two weeks ago during an earlier visit to the school after its relocation.

He explained that during the inspection, many pupils were found wearing torn and faded uniforms, while others had no proper school attire.

“We promised that when we returned, we would provide uniforms to ensure that every pupil is properly dressed,” Alhaji Danwana said.

He noted that following the school’s upgrade from Tendamba Primary School to Tendamba Model Primary School, the Municipal Assembly is committed to improving all aspects of the institution to make it more attractive to parents and learners.

According to him, although the school currently has an enrollment of about 240 pupils, 300 uniforms were presented to cater for different sizes.

Alhaji Danwana disclosed that the uniforms were donated by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, through the Nadowli-Kaleo District.

He expressed appreciation to the Speaker, the Nadowli-Kaleo District Chief Executive, and the District Education Directorate for supporting the initiative.

He officially handed over the uniforms to the Wa Municipal Director of Education for distribution to the pupils.

Receiving the items, the Wa Municipal Director of Education, Sophia Dimah Nandzo, thanked the MCE for honouring his promise to the school.

She recalled that when the pupils were relocated to the new school, the MCE expressed concern about their appearance and pledged to secure uniforms to match the improved learning environment.

“He has remained true to his word by ensuring these uniforms reach the children,” she said.

Madam Nandzo also acknowledged the contribution of the Speaker of Parliament and the Nadowli-Kaleo District Assembly in making the donation possible.

She expressed optimism that the new uniforms would boost pupils’ confidence, motivate teachers, and make the school more appealing to parents seeking quality education for their children.

“Our hope is that this will inspire the pupils to learn harder, encourage teachers to give off their best, and attract more children to the school because parents want schools where pupils are neat and decently dressed,” she added.

The donation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Wa Municipal Assembly and its partners to improve educational standards while creating a more conducive learning environment for children in the municipality.
