The Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on staff of the government’s communication ministry to embrace innovation, collaboration, and adaptability in order to strengthen public information delivery in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Speaking during a working visit to the Ministry at the presidency, the Vice President emphasized the importance of proactive engagement, encouraging staff not to remain passive but to actively share ideas, challenges and solutions with leadership.
“We don’t want a situation where you are simply waiting to be heard. Feel free to approach us, we are here to support and work with you,” she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reassured the staff of government’s commitment to their work, and stressed that their efforts are central to national development.
“We want to assure you that we have your back. We are working together towards the advancement of this country,” she stated, urging them to remain dedicated to their roles in supporting the broader vision of the administration.
Highlighting the growing influence of digital media, the Vice President urged the Ministry to rethink how information is produced and delivered, particularly as more citizens consume content online.
“If people are now reading on tablets and screens, how can you position yourselves to be part of this shift?” she questioned, encouraging the exploration of alternative formats and platforms to reach wider audiences.
She stressed the need for the ministry to remain ahead of trends rather than reacting late, noting that adaptability is key to staying relevant in today’s information ecosystem.
The Vice President also addressed concerns about misinformation, acknowledging that information is often shaped by selective presentation.
“Information is never entirely neutral. What is included and what is left out matters,” she said.
The Vice President challenged the ministry to provide balanced and credible information, offering the public diverse perspectives to help them better understand issues and avoid being misled.
While commending staff for their ongoing efforts, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged continuous improvement and innovation.
“I know you are doing a good job already, but we must always look for ways to do even better,” she noted.
She reaffirmed government’s support for the ministry and urged staff to remain committed to excellence in service of the nation.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Vice President to engage key institutions and strengthen the effectiveness of government communication across the country.
