The Awutu Bereku Police Command has arrested two Nigerian nationals for imposing as officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA).

The two, one Nicholas Odoom, and his accomplice, have been extorting monies from registrants of the ECOWAS Identity card popularly referred to as the Ghana card.

The modus operandi of the duo is to confront people in queues who are waiting for their turn to register for their Ghana card and collect money to expedite the process for them.

According to reports, they charge GH₵20.00 and above but leave the premises without executing their part of the bargain to their clients.

The Awutu Bereku sub office NIA Director, Richard Ekow France confirmed the incident and tells Onuaonline he got injured in the process of arresting the two when one broke a glass.

One of the suspects was caught on video bargaining with a prospective client for a service.
