Following the power outage for residents of Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo for over three weeks now, a man has presented a plant along with his pregnant wife to the Somanya Polyclinic on the evening of Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

According to the soon-to-be father, the plant is to ensure health personnel get adequate light to work on her pregnant wife.

Health personnel in the two municipalities have been complaining of the toll the power outage is having on them after the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) suspended power supply to the communities in the entire enclave die to their rift with the residents.

Demonstrations, press conferences, calls by several bodies amongst other actions have been for the power to be restored but to no avail.

The ECG after an assessment of its infrastructure in the areas few days ago indicated mostbof the earth cables connecting their transformers in the communities have been stolen.

The brawl between the ECG and Krobo residents has lasted for years with the recent resurgence lasting for several months.

Characterised with protests upon protests, some persons have died as a result of clash between residents and the police.

The fight comes as a result of changing of metres of the residents from postpaid to prepaid which the indigenes resisted as a result of some arrears misunderstanding which had not been resolved.

ECG says it is assessing its infrastructure to restore power to the residents as soon as possible.
