Captain Smart has said former Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie the late, a.k.a. Sir John before his demise wrote to President Akufo-Addo how Chairman Wontumi was destroying the Tano Nimiri forest reserve.
But because the president is actively involved in Wontumi’s deeds, he didn’t take action and shielded him till now.
He said the evidence President Akufo-Addo said he needs has been given him long time by the late CEO, as well as letters from the Minerals and Lands Commissions stating Akonta Mines, owned by Chairman Wontumi, has no license to mine in the forest reserve.
