German giants Bayern Friday thrashed second-division side Ulm in the German Cup in manager Vincent Kompany’s first match in charge.

Two first-half goals from Thomas Muller and goals from Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane gave the Bavarians a 4-0 win in the Cup.

It was a good start for Kompany, who left Burnley for Bayern in the summer.

The Munich side had suffered their first trophyless campaign since 2012.

In the German Cup, Bayern Munich, who have won it 20 times, have failed to make it past the quarter-finals since winning the treble in 2019-20.

Ulm were promoted to the second division last season for the first time in 23 years.
