A 26-year-old pregnant woman, Abigail Nana Ama Fosua, has allegedly hanged herself to death at Gentleman Road, a suburb of Samraboi in the Amenfi West municipality of the Western region.

Abigail, a two-year-old apprentice, according to eyewitnesses, was found hanging in her room at the forenoon of Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Dominic Danquah, an eyewitness who spoke to Green Gold FM’s Afia Adepa noted that he saw the boyfriend of the deceased calling a lady to witness something in her late girlfriend’s room to find her hanged on a rope.

According to the man, the lady came out of the room wailing, making him question the cause of her action.

Mr. Danquah says the lady told him Abigail has hanged herself. He said he rushed to the room and witnessed for himself, the 26-year-old apprentice hanging on a rope with a chair beside her.

Although the man said he cannot really tell much about the relationship between Abigail and her boyfriend, some neighbours noted that her last status on her WhatsApp the day before indicated she was battling relationship issues.

Mr. Danquah added that the boyfriend does not stay with the lady but only visits once in a while.

“I was coming out of my room around 11:30 this morning (Wednesday, July 17) and his boyfriend called a certain lady to come and watch something for him. I was thinking they were having an argument but when the lady entered, she came out wailing so I also rushed to the room and saw her hanging on the rope with some chair beside her so I suspect she stood on the chair to do that.

“When the lady came out and I asked what is making her cry, she said Abigail has hanged herself. I cant really say much about their relationship because they don’t stay together. The room is for the lady so the guy comes around once in a while,” Mr. Danquah, the eyewitness narrated.

Meanwhile, Afia Adepa has been telling OnuaOnline Thursday, July 18, that Abigail’s boyfriend was invited by the Samraboi police for a statement and got discharged Wednesday.

According to him, Abigail, the day before the incident (Tuesday, July 16) sent a video to the ex-girlfriend of her brother, demonstrating how she was going to commit suicide, an evidence the boyfriend presented to the police.

The boyfriend noted that that was not the first time Abigail had threatened to take her life. She had earlier made a similar threat in a note which the guy said he reported to the police but no action was taken.

Chief Inspector Augustus Adumadzi of the Samraboi police station says family of the deceased had attempted assaulting Abigail’s boyfriend, suspecting him of being behind their relative’s death.

But the police said the family has no evidence to draw such conclusion.

Abigail’s remains has been preserved at the Asankragwa Government Hospital’s morgue, awaiting autopsy.

She left behind a four-year-old son who stays with her stepmother.
