Jinpenhi Naa Kadri Ibrahim, Secretary to the Overlord of the Wala State, on behalf of the planning Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Speaker Bagbin for the generous gesture, describing it as a timely and significant contribution to the success of the Dumba festival.

The generous support is seen as a boost to the Planning Committee’s efforts to make the festival a memorable one.

Dumba Festival

The Dumba festival is an annual cultural celebration by the people of the Wala state, traditionally held in September or October, depending on the Islamic calendar.

It serves to unite the people, foster peace, and commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), with its highlight being the Wa Naa’s ritualistic jump over a tethered cow to prove his strength and fitness to rule.

It is usually a week-long celebration, amidst ritual performances by the chiefs, tendaamba, imams, forokos and yari namine, all coming together in Wa.

This year’s celebration is penciled to kick off on September 5, 2025.
