The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has disclosed that it began investigation into the operations of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat since July 2023.

The Secretariat, which is supposed to provide assistance to Ghanaian needy but brilliant students, according to a Fourth Estate investigation, is rather dishing out scholarships to the affluent in society at the expense of the needy.

This has subjected the work of the Secretariat to public scrutiny, with calls from various outfits calling on the OSP to investigate the office.

The Minority in Parliament made a call to the OSP to probe the Secretariat, as well as former President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and Deputy Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Abdulai Ayariga.
