Black Stars coach Otto Addo says he was certain of a win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali.

According to him, they had that in mind.

Ghana came from behind to beat Mali 2-1 at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako with substitute Jordan Ayew scoring the winner in injury time.

Addressing journalists after the game on Thursday, June 6, Otto Addo admitted that it was a difficult one because the Eagles are a good side and the temperatures were high.

“We had a win in our mind but I wanted to get to the game and have a feel first,”he said.

“For me it was very difficult to play a fully attacking game because Mali is a good team and it’s very, very hot here.

“So I have to see how the game will go and decide either to put more offensive players or defensive players.

“So in the end, we made changes by bringing on more offensive players and they scored for us.”

He lauded the “fighting spirit” of the players, assuring that he will study the formation played and choose the best system for Monday’s clash against the Central African Republic.

Ghana currently lie 2nd in Group I following Thursday’s win.

They are on the same points – six – with leaders Comoros.
