The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene has stated that the mortal remains of all eight victims of the helicopter crash on August 6 have been retrieved.

He made this announcement on Facebook.

“Abt 1000ft up Mountain Dampayaw, 2hrs drive frm Obuasi plus 1hr 30min on foot frm Sikaman Bofodu, we retrieved the 8 lifeless compatriots,” he posted.

The deceased are; Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has ordered national flags to fly at half-mast after this tragedy.

At an emergency press briefing at the Presidency, Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah announced the death of these individuals and confirmed the incident.

The officials together with the crew members were en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region for a national event.

“The President and the government extend our condolences and sympathies to the families of our Comrades and the service men who died in service to the country. All flags are to fly at half-mast until further notice,” Chief of Staff announced.
