Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC could not progress to the next round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after losing 3-1 to TP Mazembe in the preliminary round on Saturday, September 12.
The Yellow and Mauves were seeking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat suffered at home last Sunday.
However, Ibrahim Tanko’s men failed to let it count as they were down 0-2 by the end of the first 45 minutes at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi.
Goals from Patrick Mwaungulu in just the 3rd minute and Josué Kazema in the 19th minute put the Congolese 3-0 ahead on aggregate after the first half.
Though Dominic Amponsah managed to pull one back, a superbly taken free kick by Mwaungulu in the 76th minute put the game beyond the Ghanaians.
It ended 4-1 on aggregate to the five-time champions.
They progress to face Club Africain of Tunisia or Djoliba of Mali in the penultimate round of qualifiers.
