National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye, has accused National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officials of storming the home of Assin South lawmaker John Ntim Fordjour to arrest him without showing an arrest warrant.

Nana B told journalists who visited the home of the lawmaker that they will not succumb to state-sponsored arrest of the lawmaker.

“We won’t kowtow to any state-sponsored arrest,” he said.

Nana B also asked why the NIB officials did not go through the Speaker of Parliament before storming the home of the lawmaker.

“When they wanted to Arrest A Plus and Mustapha Yussif, didn’t they go through the Speaker of Parliament? Why are they not doing so now? He asked.

NIB  officials on April 9, engaged in a standoff with the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev Ntim Fordjour in an attempt to effect his arrest.

According to Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the standoff erupted because Rev Fordjour refused to cooperate.

“NIB officials are currently at Ntim Fordjour’s residence. They have arrest warrant. He is refusing to cooperate. They have given him time to cooperate, failing which they will act,” he said.
