A commercial bus traveling from Accra to Sefwi Asawinso in the Western North region, with registration number GE-8264-19 has been burnt after catching fire around 7:50 a.m. Thursday morning, September 18, 2025.
According to some passengers, they saw smoke emitting from the bus and alerted the driver, but he allegedly refused to stop.
The driver, who declined to speak on camera, later explained that a torn fan belt caused the fire.
In a telephone interview, the Western North Regional Fire Commander, ACFO Philip Kudzo Amagnoh, revealed that the only fire tender in good condition within the enclave which was dispatched to bring the situation under control broke down on the way.
He called on the government to urgently provide the Western North Fire Command with adequate logistics to handle such emergencies.
Meanwhile, no casualties were recorded, although passengers’ belongings were destroyed in the blaze.
