The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has inspected two ongoing road projects being executed under the Government’s Big Push infrastructure programme in the Western North Region.
The Big Push initiative is aimed at improving road infrastructure across the country, with the Western North Region benefiting from five road projects under the programme.
On 29th July 2026, Brentum visited the Pekyi–Kudjo and Kudjo–Nyankamum road projects. The two roads are expected to improve connectivity between the Akontombra District and the Aowin Municipality.
The projects are being undertaken by Big Aidoo Construction Limited and Messrs Maripoma Limited.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, the Regional Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work.
He said he was impressed by the pace of construction, noting that although the Minister for Roads and Highways had earlier inspected the projects when progress was relatively slow, significant improvements had since been made.
Brentum commended both contractors for the quality of work and urged them to maintain the current standard and speed to ensure the projects are completed within the stipulated contract period.
The Western North Regional Director of Roads and Highways, Mrs. Winifred Eugenia Adjei Sarpong, said her office is continuously monitoring the projects to ensure quality standards are maintained.
She explained that the two contractors are constructing a 62-kilometre stretch from Pekyi to Nyankamum and assured the public that engineers from the Roads and Highways Department will continue to supervise the works to guarantee quality delivery.
Mrs. Adjei Sarpong further revealed that the contractors have been given 24 months to complete the projects.
