The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has donated ICT equipment to senior high schools across the region to support the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The donation was made at a ceremony held at the Western North Regional Coordinating Council on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Brentum said ICT has become a major driver of education and development globally, making it necessary for schools in the region to be adequately equipped to meet modern educational standards.
He announced that the Regional Coordinating Council is also working to establish e-libraries for all 19 senior high schools in the Western North Region.
According to the Minister, discussions are ongoing with development partners to support the initiative, and the partners are expected to begin engagements on the project soon.
Mr. Brentum urged school authorities to take proper care of the ICT equipment and ensure that they are used effectively to improve teaching and learning.
The Headmaster of Sefwi Wiawso Senior High Technical School, Mr. Obeng Nyamekye, who spoke on behalf of the heads of the beneficiary schools, commended the Regional Minister for the initiative.
He said the equipment would enhance ICT teaching and learning while also supporting schools in improving their data management and record-keeping systems.
Mr. Nyamekye noted that although some schools already had ICT equipment, the available resources were insufficient to meet their needs, making the Minister’s intervention timely and important.
He expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister and pledged the schools’ commitment to making good use of the equipment.
