The 10-year-old boy who was tortured by his father in Diabene, a suburb of Sekondi in the Western Region, is reeling in pain at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he is receiving medical care.

According to reports, the father, Michael Foli Gamabley, whipped the boy with an electrical cable on Monday night (around 8pm), inflicting severe wounds all over his body.

Sources say the father allegedly justified this brutal action, claiming his son is stubborn and unrepentant.

Some residents who witnessed the assault rushed the child to the hospital. A nurse, who has yet to be identified, upon examining the boy’s condition, called for the Police to arrest the father.

The Sekondi Police arrested the father that night for allegedly torturing the child. He was subsequently handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Western Region Police Command for investigation.

It was later revealed that the victim’s parents are separated, with the mother residing in Accra. So far, only the boy’s uncle and grandmother have visited him.

The Assembly Member for the area, Albert Yalley, who has been assisting police with the investigation, told Connect FM’s Orokodo News that the boy is responding to treatment, albeit unable to swallow solid food.
