The Western Regional Minister, Kobby Otchere Darko Mensah has pledged his support to make the Kejebil/Apowa road a Free Zone in the Ahanta West District of the region.
He was speaking at the official commissioning of a chemical blending and storage facility for the extractive industry at Kejebil. The 15 tonne-capacity facility was built by 2EN Chemicals Limited, a company established by two Ghanaian businesses – Eco Natural Resources Limited and Ensol Energy Ghana Limited.
The facility, with its cutting-edge infrastructure, is expected to enhance the capabilities of various sectors reliant on chemical inputs especially services to the upstream industry.
The Regional Minister stated that the initiative aligned perfectly with government’s commitment to advancing industrial development in Ghana.
“This is a significant step in promoting economic growth, self-reliance, and value addition in Ghana’s industrial sector,” the Minister said.
He added that the collaboration between the two companies to establish the facility demonstrated how strategic partnerships could enhance the industrial landscape of the nation. Kobby Otchere Darko Mensah was positive the facility would serve as a critical asset in driving toward in-country value addition.
According to him, through such strategic investments, the Western Region could build robust local industries that will not only meet domestic needs but also position Ghana as a key player in the regional and global supply chain.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Petroleum Commission, Mr. Egbert Faibille Jnr, expressed the Commission’s preparedness to support and nurture the company to grow. He was especially excited that it was a joint venture between two Ghanaian-owned companies.
“We normally welcome foreign investors, but we also want our people to benefit and deliver high quality in chemical blending for production and related matters.”
“2EN Chemical Limited has done what is right, and this makes the Petroleum Commission happy. This is going to reduce the import bills and the associated costs. Ghana Gas, mining companies, food processing, and manufacturing companies will also benefit from 2EN.”
CEO of Ensol Energy, Kofi Yalley stated, “What we have done is a bold step, the goal is to go beyond Ghana and contribute to the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) of the country.”
Meanwhile the Director of Eco Natural Resources, Ebenezer Kwaw, is optimistic the facility will address the needs of the evolving industry and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
