Executive Council member and the Chairperson of the Black Queens Management Committee Dr. Gifty Oware Mensah has confirmed to Onua Sports that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sport have held series of meetings to find a solution regarding the bonuses owed the Black Queens players.

The Queens are owed bonuses from the 2024 AWCON qualifiers through to the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers and that has become a big talking point after news broke out that the players are refusing to play the final hurdle of the qualifiers against the Copper Queens of Zambia on Friday, February 23 if their outstanding bonuses are not paid.

“We all feel bad about the situation and that is not what we want, but we at the GFA only facilitate the payment of the national teams,” she said in an interview.

“We have held series of meetings with the Sports Ministry with the GFA President in attendance all trying to make sure the ladies get their monies before the game on Friday.”

She urged the media to rather focus their energy on promoting the game.

“I will like to not talk about this bonus issue but rather focus on the game. The girls needs to focus and continuous discussion of this issue can affect the team,” Dr. Gifty Oware Mensah said.
