Founder and President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, is asking the Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to rescind his promise on the National Cathedral project.

He has asked the Vice President to take back his pledge to continue the project should he win the December 07 elections.

The Vice President, in one of his campaign tours, informed the clergy that if he wins the December elections, he is going to solicit for funds to complete the cathedral which has stalled despite the millions of dollars pumped into it.

Meanwhile, the site, over a year ago, since the halting of the project, had only holes on the grounds from the foundation which was made.

The setting of the rains recently has filled the dugouts leaving stagnant waters on the grounds. The recent development, has been described by the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as a “swimming pool.”

Reacting to the latest outlook, the founder of IMANI said Dr. Bawumia’s decision to fund the completion of the Cathedral after spending US$58 million but providing only a “swimming pool” will not be prudent.

In a post on Facebook, the IMANI Africa boss said the Vice President should not continue the project as promised should he win the elections. He is also urging the former President and flag bearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama to also recoup the funds wasted on the project and make the culprits face the law if he happens to win the election.

“The 58m dollar National Cathedral Hole is now a swimming pool. Is this real? We need our $58 m back!!! My good friend Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia please disown this disastrous and wasteful record by withdrawing your earlier promise to continue the project if you win in December,” portions of his post on Facebook read.
