A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by the Bibiani Circuit Court after he was found guilty of stealing and unlawfully possessing human skeletal parts at Sefwi Atronsu in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

The convict, Francis Addae, popularly known as Nana Kwame, was arrested on June 19, 2026, in connection with a theft case at Awaso STEM Senior High School.

According to police, a search conducted in his room at Sefwi Atronsu, led by the Sefwi Bekwai Police Commander, DSP Peter Nartey, uncovered a red-and-black travelling bag containing several human skeletal parts, including a human skull, a femur bone, and a lower jaw.

Following investigations, Francis Addae was arraigned before the Bibiani Circuit Court, where he was convicted on charges of stealing and unlawful possession of human skeletal remains.

Presiding over the case, His Honour Frank Asiedu Nimako sentenced the convict to five years’ imprisonment. The offences are contrary to Ghana’s criminal laws on stealing and the unlawful possession or interference with human remains.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and has urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other appropriate security agencies.
