“If there is anyone to be arrested, then that has to be Wontumi”, team Kennedy Agyapong has said in response to the Ashanti regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, a.k.a. Chairman Wontumi.
Team Ken Agyapong has indicated that Wontumi has indulged in acts that warranted his arrest and hence, doesn’t have the locus to call for someone else’s arrest.
The jab comes after Chairman Wontumi had threatened to arrest Ken Agyapong if he mentioned him in his threats again.
“Let comments like, “I have regretted being in the NPP, everyone is a fool, I’ll give you a showdown” and how you speak, among others cease else if you threaten me again, I will get you arrested. This is an advice I am giving you because you did same and now the likes of Ahmed Suale are all gone,” he said in Twi at a press conference Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
But in a response from Ken Agyapong’s team to the NPP regional Chair, he slapped a sitting MP and also had an issue with a former MP who has passed away. His logic therefore, to get Ken Agyapong questioned over Ahmed Suale’s murder because he threatened him should also get him (Wontumi) arrested since he had issues with the late former MP before he died.
“If there is anyone to be arrested, then that has to be Wontumi because since the party was formed, no one has ever slapped a sitting MP than Wontumi. He slapped Collins [Owusu Amankwah, former Manhyia North MP].
“You were agitating with a former Member of Parliament who subsequently died and when names were being mentioned, you were named as the person that was at loggerheads with him, that does mean you killed him? Why then do you say we should be questioned about Ahmed Suale’s death? Issues about murder are serious and should not be meddled in our politics,” he indicated.
Meanwhile, the team has asked Wontumi to question the Vice President for Ahmed Suale’s death since he is the Chair of the police coucil.
“He claims Ahmed Suale died so if Ken says something he will arrest him. Who is supposed to find the murderers of Ahmed Suale? The police, who is Chair of the Police Council? –the Vice President –and after an investigation has been done, who will be presented with the findings?
“…So if he wants the murderers of Ahmed Suale, he should go to the Vice President and ask. He shouldn’t say because our candidate spoke about Ahmed Suale he should be questioned about his murderers. This should be the last time he should be making such a comment,” he indicated.
