Co-host of Maakye on Onua TV/FM, Regina Yaa Titi Okrah, has slammed leadership of the New Patriotic Party for inciting party members in the Bibiani-Anwiaso-Bekwai constituency against their Member of Parliament.

The lawmaker in a viral audio has asked his constituents to join him demonstrate against the assembly for lack of development for the past two years.

According to the MP, aside from some personal developments he has personally advocated for the constituency, the assembly for two years has done nothing.

But the party leadership is not in support of the move.

In a letter written by the party headquarters to the constituency, they urged their members not to get involved in the protest.

The Justin Kodua Frimpong-signed letter suggests the involvement of party members in the demonstration will indict the integrity of the NPP.

Meanwhile, another group had planned on countering the demonstration the MP was planning.

They, together with the party leadership say the demonstration will denigrate the NPP and would rather want the MP sought redress of his grievances through the appropriate party protocols.

But speaking Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Yaa Titi said the NPP prioritise the party’s interest over that of the constituents whose interest the MP is supposed to serve.

“Are you people interested in the development of the constituency or the party? Why are you instigating the people against the MP? The MP who is rather seeking his peoples interest is the one you’re attacking. Did we vote for you to come and do party affairs or develope your the country? Even after the MCE’s death you haven’t appointed a substantive one and that is even an issue,” she fumed.

The Iron Lady continued that what Mr. Obeng Boateng, the MP, is seeking to do is to rather secure their remaining seats for them after the party lost many seats in the last election.
