The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL) to train and create employment opportunities for 2,000 young Ghanaians through a Microsoft-certified Micro Degree Programme in digital skills.

The partnership is aimed at equipping participants with industry-relevant ICT competencies while positioning them for employment opportunities in Ghana and the global digital economy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Malik Basintale, described the initiative as a strategic investment in Ghana’s youth, stressing the importance of preparing young people for the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

He noted that the Agency considered it necessary to embrace the growing opportunities within the technology sector, adding that Ghana Digital Centres was the ideal institution to facilitate the programme due to its expertise in digital skills development.

The Microsoft-certified Micro Degree Programme will provide training in high-demand fields, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and data engineering.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres Limited, Dzifa Gunu, said the initiative extends beyond skills training, with participants expected to benefit from structured internship placements, employment matching, and potential remote work opportunities with international companies.

She noted that the programme is designed to bridge the gap between digital skills acquisition and employment by connecting graduates to opportunities within Ghana and abroad.

Interested applicants will be able to apply free of charge through the official Ghana Digital Centres online portal once applications open. YEA and GDCL have encouraged eligible young Ghanaians to follow their official communication channels for updates on the recruitment process.

The partnership forms part of broader national efforts to advance digital transformation, improve youth employability, and build a technology-driven workforce capable of supporting Ghana’s economic growth.

The initiative is expected to create opportunities for 2,000 young Ghanaians by providing globally recognised digital training and a clear pathway into meaningful employment.
