The Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cautioned the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, not to try anything that will mar the peace and security of the country.
He says any attempt by the government to destabilise the peace of the country would be met with equal measure.
His comments come after Acheampong had indicated that the NPP is not going to lose the upcoming elections since it is an election winning machine.
Whilst addressing a charged crowd at a campaign rally of the NPP at Nsawam in the Eastern Region, Mr. Acheampong said the NDC was never going to win the elections.
The politician cum businessman noted that the NPP is an election winning machine and winning the upcoming polls is a must.
“I have said that whether the NDC likes it not, they will never win the 2024 elections. They would not win. You can check their records. They would not win. The NPP would win the elections. The NPP exists to win elections,” he told the charged crowd.
The Minister who was recently under fire for his intention to purchase some four hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) shared that the NPP was going to employ the services of pastors, imams and traditionalists in its fold to secure victory in the upcoming polls.
“So, we would do whatever it takes to win the elections. We are a political party that has pastors, imams, and traditionalists so whatever means we would take to win the elections, we would do so. ‘Burn the sea if you don’t understand, we’ll win and continue with our good works,” he noted.
Reacting to him at a campaign visit of the NDC flag bearer to Adaklu Thursday, August 15, 2024, Kwame Agbodza, the Member of Parliament for the constituency, warned that the NPP is going to lose the election and Akufo-Addo has no power to say he won’t hand over.
“I’m talking about my colleague in Parliament, Bryan Acheampong, threatening that the sea will burn because they are going to try to rig the election. I have a simple message for you my colleague, as you have been defeated in the hostile overtake of the hotels belonging to SSNIT, you will surely fail.
“If you attempt to use force to do anything, this is Adaklu, we can tell you, you dare not try anything on the life of any Ghanaian. You cannot threaten Ghanaians, your party will lose and you will be the first to run away. This is what we have said in Adaklu, the God we serve can tell you that you dare not,” he sternly warned.
The Minority Whip has indicated that the NPP’s attempt to use violence to rig the elections just as they did in 2020 will not suffice since they are ready to meet them squarely.
“President Mahama will win and President Akufo-Addo will have to hand over to him and your party has no business trying to hold on to power so anybody in government, like we have said it before, Your Excellency, that they are planning to do what they did in 2020, by orchestrating the murder of 8 Ghanaians during an election which has never happened before, I am saying, if you are a security personnel or those being trained by my colleague Bryan Acheampong and co, at least, the boundaries of Volta Region, before you cross with that mindset, be prepared that, in self defence, you might become the victim. This is a promise, it is not a threat,” he added.
