Youth activist and social commentator, Innocent Ivan Kyei, has expressed disgust over the degree of selfishness that has engulfed Ghanaian politicians without an iota of human centeredness in their leadership.

He is dumbfounded with some caliber of persons who have been granted platforms by certain media houses to propagate their presidential ambitions whilst their deserved places were supposed to be in the asylum.

Speaking about Ghana’s current economic conditions, Mr. Kyei noted the only moment Ghana can liberate itself economically is when it gets leaders whose policies are human centered.

Whilst contributing on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the outspoken activist said he was disappointed in the legislature for being overly partisan to spearhead the interest of the masses but rather concentrate on matters that have little or no impact on the citizenry in pursuit of their parochial interest.

“Some people are supposed to be in the asylum and chained at the psychiatric hospital but they are walking around wanting to be president and some media houses have granted them oxygen in their airspace.

“It takes leadership, people with the vision and human centeredness to get people out of their problems. Parliament that is supposed to be pursuing a collective agenda in the interest of the state is also engaged in cheap partisan politics,” he noted.

He further complained about the leadership’s inability to invest in the lives of the people, blaming the citizens in part for contributing to the kind of rule being given by their leaders.

He explained that “leadership goes beyond living flashy lifestyle. They don’t invest in the lives of the people. You will not find an idiot president with a wise people. The type of people determine the type of leadership they get.”

Speaking about the media, Mr. Kyei condemned the Fourth realm’s role that has been compromised for politicians.

“The media is supposed to mediate between power and the people and amplify the voice of the voiceless but are rather dinning with the politicians. We need to change focus and reorient our politics.

“That is why I have issues with Alan Kyerematen because he sat aloof to enjoy all the goodies but now he claims he was protecting Akufo-Addo’s legacy. Leadership emerge out of extraordinary circumstances. When everything is going bad and you voice out, the few positive minds will navigate towards you.

“You (Alan) are now speaking where were you when the bad things were going on? You enjoyed everything with them and you now want to talk. Politics has gone beyond the jokes,” he fumed.
