A member of the Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ADO II Alex King Nartey has revealed 226 fire incidents were recorded by the Service between December 21 and 31, 2022.

He says the harmattan season coupled with the recklessness of people in fire usage contributed to the cases.

During a public sensitisation on fire on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Tuesday, January 10, 2023, ADO II Nartey opined the least mistake with fire will cause a disaster due to the dryness of the weather.

He, however, admitted the Service is having some logistical challenges but are utilising the little they have to ensure all fire outbreaks are curtailed.

Meanwhile, he has advised people to be careful when using fire, especially for domestic and agricultural purposes to ensure they don’t cause destruction to lives and property.
