The Kotoku police in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have arrested a 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, for allegedly murdering his tenant at Medie Ketewa, a suburb of Medie.

Kofi Koranteng was arrested at his hideout in Nsawam in the Eastern Region and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Opoku Agyemang, a 37-year-old with three children and a wife, was reportedly owing his landlord an amount of GH¢30 for electricity bill.

The report indicates that the two, Opoku and Koranteng, until the demise, were very good friends, even though Opoku was renting Koranteng’s house.

Eyewitnesses said the two had been working colleagues for a long time, and it is difficult to determine what exactly sparked the arguments over the GH¢30 electricity payment.

Enoch Idan Danquah, who happened to witness the incident, told Onua News that the landlord was unhappy with how Opoku paid his electricity bills, so he invited him to his room for deliberations over the bill payment.

According to the story, the landlord allegedly drew a machete during the discussion and fatally stabbed Opoku.

Kofi Koranteng, with five children, bolted after allegedly committing the act.
