Former President John Dramani Mahama says his 24-hour economy promise will cover the area of sports as well.

According to him, that sector plays a very important part of the policy.

He said the major infrastructural projects to be established under the policy will include sports facilities.

Mr Mahama made this known on Sunday during an interaction with journalists at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

He met journalists to bring them up to speed with some of the policies he intends to implement when voted for in the December 7 elections.

Asked whether he has any plans of building a world-class stadium for football since the country has none, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer said per the current economic conditions, Ghana may not bid to host any tournament.

For him, that is an impetus to any government is putting up infrastructure in the sector.

However, he noted, his 24-hour policy will ensure that a lot of facilities will spring up and among these will be sports facilities.

“I do think that as part of the 24-hour economy, sports can play a very good part and so we will invest in the sector.”
