The John Mahama Campaign Team has described as “shadowy and unethical journalism practice”, a publication by Accra-based Asaase Radio and the Daily Guide newspaper, indicating John Mahama has gone to seek support from the Russian government for the December elections.

According to the two media outlets, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) visit to Moscow to was to secure support from the government, but went under the guise of launching the Russian language version of his book.

John Mahama launched the Russian language version of his memoir, ‘My first Coup D’etat’ in Moscow this week, a move which the two media outlets have described in publications they made Thursday, July 11, 2024, as a decoy.

My First Coup D’etat: Mahama launches Russian language version of memoir in Moscow

In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the campaign and personal Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari Friday, July 12, 2024, it debunked the assertions, saying the publications were meant to defame the flag bearer of the NDC.

She explained Mahama was in Russia to launch the Russian language translation of his memoir, ‘My First Coup D’etat and Other Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa’ at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The Campaign Team has urged Ghanaians to debunk the allegation as no such thing occurred during Mahama’s visit to Moscow.
