Ghana’s U-20 women’s football team, the Black Princesses, left Accra Tuesday night en route to Colombia for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The team left the Kotoka International Airport with officials led by Takyi Arhin.

The tournament begins on Saturday, August 31 and ends on Sunday, September 22.

The Black Princesses will, however, begin their campaign on Monday, September 2 against Austria.

They will later take on Japan and New Zealand in Group E.

Coach Yusif Basigi called for prayers from Ghanaians as his team represents the country again in the tournament.

“All I can tell Ghanaians is, just as they always pray for us, they should pray for us, we will not disgrace them,” Basigi told Onua Sports’ Alfred Takyi Mensah.

“If you take a look at this particular category, I don’t remember we have crossed the group stage. Therefore, our main focus is to go beyond the group stage before the other matches.”

He added that the team has lined up a number of pre-tournament friendlies.

He said his girls will play a club side before taking on Mexico and South Korea before the tournament begins.
