Substitute Priscilla Mensah’s second-half strike gave the Black Princesses a vital 1-0 away win over their South African counterparts in the second leg of the second round qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The first leg had ended 2-2 at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday, requiring Charles Sampson’s side to put up a beyond-the-normal performance in order to make it to the next round.
After a goalless first half at the Mbombela Stadium, the Black Princesses had a major hiccough as striker Mary Amponsah took a knock just four minutes into the second half.
Charles Sampson then threw in Priscilla to replace the injured Mary.
After barely 10 minutes of coming on, the Ghana Number 9 put the ball at the back of the net, much to the euphoria of the few away fans in the stands.
The goal separated the two sides as Ghana move to the final round 3-2 on aggregate.
They will face Uganda for one of the four tickets to Poland 2026 after the East Africans beat their Zambian counterparts 2-1 on aggregate a few moments after the Ghana-South Africa game.
