The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, is asking Ghanaians if they prefer a choice that would come back and account to them after four years, or someone they will not see again as President.
This, is a message the lawmaker is reiterating from the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, will not come back to account to them if they vote for him.
John Mahama, having served his first term of office after winning the December 2012 elections, and losing his bid for re-election in 2016 to President Akufo-Addo, has only one term of office to serve as President if he wins the polls.
Speaking to TV3’s Eric Mawuena Egbeta at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi, where the NPP will be launching its Manifesto today, Sunday, August 18, 2024, the former Minister of Works and Housing noted that, voting for John Mahama is a lottery and Ghanaians should not take that gamble.
He explained that Dr. Bawumia as an economist, possesses the wherewithal to take Ghana out of the economic mess it is in now.
“Are you going to do a lottery in relation to somebody who would not come back to account for you? Or you are going to say that this is a man who is an economist of consequence, he is going to really bring us out of the doldrums, whatever it is, and in the next four years, when you give him the space he is going to come back. It is a lottery Ghanaians should not play with at all,” Mr. Atta, who is also a private legal practitioner, indicated.
Thousands of supporters of the governing NPP are expected to gather at GSTS today for the launch of the party’s manifesto ahead of the 2024 election.
The event, billed to commence at 2:00pm, follows the party’s mammoth health walk in the Western Regional capital of Sekondi-Takoradi yesterday, Saturday, August 17.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong Monday, August 05, 2024, he stated that an eleven-member committee had been set up to plan and execute the launch.
Madam Oboshie Sai-Coffie chairs the committee, with Abena Asante serving as Secretary.
