FC Samartex emerged the maiden champion of champions on Saturday, August 31 after a lone-goal victory over Nsoatreman FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.
The Champion of Champions game was instituted to pitch the winners of the Ghana Premier Leagues against the winners of the MTN FA Cup.
Therefore, FC Samartex, who annexed their maiden League title in the 2023/24 season, came up against Nsoatreman FC, who won their maiden MTN FA Cup last season.
After a goalless first half, Emmanuel Mamah struck in the 70th minute to give the Timber Giants the winner.
The win comes as a boost as the Westerners continue their clean sheet in competitive games this season.
They beat Cameroonian champions Victoria United 2-0 on aggregate to advance in the CAF Champions League preliminary qualification round and will start the defence of their title this weekend against 2024 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists Dreams FC.
