Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reemphasised the need to prioritise peace before, during and after the December 07 elections.
The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says although elections are crucial moments in every democracy, it was important for the citizens to choose ideas of the political class over violence.
Addressing congregants in various churches within the Weija-Gbawe constituency in the Greater Accra Region Sunday, September 01, 2024, Dr. Bawumia reemphasised that peace is the anchor to shaping the nation’s future.
The flag bearer of the NPP visited several churches within the enclave, including the church of the late Ejisu MP, Lilian Kumah, with some party bigwigs.
He urged the clergy to pray for the country, himself and all aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), referencing Matthew 19:26 during his visits to the churches.
Dr. Bawumia also admonished constituents in the Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency to vote for him to create employment for them by training one million youth in digital skills.
He also engaged the clergy, imams, chiefs and other opinion leaders at the Pentecost University where he espoused on the government’s programmes and policies including the Free SHS and TVET.
The Vice President also highlighted on the importance of the Zongo Development Fund which aims to develop Zongo communities through ICT centres, improved sanitation, and scholarships for students from these communities to study medicine in Cuba.
