Flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has asked depositors of defunct DKM Microfinance to question the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for their money whenever they set eyes on him.
John Mahama says after all the lies that were told of his relationship with the existence of the company, it has emerged that the owner of the business is a financier of the campaign for the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the run up to the 2016 election, the politics of who owns the controversial defunct DKM micro finance emerged and was a major campaign tool for the then opposition.
The wife of John Dramani Mahama, Lordina Mahama, was accused of being behind the microfinance company which the Bank of Ghana (BoG) suspended in 2015 for breaching the banking act.
Speaking Tuesday, September 03, 2024, at Nkoranza in the Bono East region where the defunct company operated more, John Mahama told the constituents that the owner of the company is neck-deep in the Bawumia campaign.
He told the residents to question Bawumia whenever they set eyes on him.
“In 2016, during my presidency, the NPP MPs and party leadership falsely accused my wife Lordina and me of being associated with the leader of DKM microfinance, which defrauded investors of their money. Recently, Vice President Bawumia was seen with the same individual funding his campaign as a crony of the NPP.
“I urge you to remember that while lies may spread quickly, truth ultimately prevails. When Bawumia visits, demand answers from him about his involvement and the fate of your investments,” said John Mahama.
