Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed strong confidence in his team’s ability to rebound from their recent defeat and secure a crucial win against Niger in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Addo, in a pre-match conference, emphasised that despite the Black Stars being considered favourites, the team must remain vigilant and focused.

“We are surely the favourites for this game and I am very, very confident that we will win,” Addo stated.

“But in football, anything can happen. We saw it last time against Angola, the way the game unfolded. I never thought we would lose that game, but now there is no weak opponent. So, we have to be focused and concentrated.”

Addo admitted the mental toll of the 1-0 loss to Angola, which ended Ghana’s long unbeaten run at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite this, he remains hopeful that the positive feedback from friends, family, and media has lifted the team’s spirits.

“We need to do our job, and if we do, the probability of winning is very, very high,” he added.

Ghana’s immediate goal is to recover from their disappointing start and secure a vital win against Niger to get their AFCON qualifying campaign back on track.
