The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has urged voters in the Ejura Sekyedumase constituency of the Ashanti Region to reconsider their longstanding support for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to her, the constituency’s continuous support for the NDC will impede the area’s development.
Speaking to party members during a health walk and campaign launch in Ejura Sunday, October 13, 2024, the Vice President’s wife criticised the NDC’s failure to develop the constituency despite voting for them consistently.
She said that the opposition has repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises to the constituents at the times they have been in power.
Despite the overwhelming support for the NDC in the constituency, Ejura Sekyedumase, according to Samira Bawumia, has been neglected when it comes to critical developmental projects.
She appealed to the electorates to vote for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Ejura Sekyedumase NPP parliamentary candidate, Gifty Ndoma, come December 07.
“Voting is a development business. We do politics because we want development. We don’t want to go back on the elections we are going to have. For Ejura Sekyedumase, I know you know what’s up. So why would we allow someone to come and tell us to retrogress in our lives?” she questioned.
Samira Bawumia added that although the community, which is predominantly Muslims, has always prioritised the NDC ahead of the NPP in the constituency in terms of votes, they have never chosen a Muslim Vice President before.
“Muslims have always voted for the NDC but have they ever chosen a Muslim Vice President?” the Vice President’s wife added.
