Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on Sekyere Afram Plains constituents to vote for him since he is also a northerner.

He says the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has always played the tribal card to win the votes of the constituents, indicating it was time for them to reconsider their voting pattern since he is also a son from the north.

Speaking to the chiefs, clergy and Muslim clerics at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency of the Ashanti region Sunday, November 17, 2024, the Vice President called on the residents to vote for the NPP to transform their lives.

“First when NDC is campaigning when they come those in Sekyere Afram Plains they say, your brother is John Mahama so vote for him is that not what they say? 2012 it was like that, 2016, 2020 it was like that, they thought NPP will not elect a Northerner but today I am also a Northerner so vote for me,” he admonished.

The NPP’s presidential candidate also assured the gathering of rolling out a housing policy when he wins power in December. The policy, he stated, would be implemented across all the districts in the country.

“Accommodation and housing brings a lot of jobs. When you are building masons are available, carpenters are there, electricians are there, plumbers are there, painters are there so housing brings a lot of jobs.

“Countries like Singapore have done, we are going to do social as well as affordable housing schemes across all the districts as it is in our manifesto,” he stated.

Bawumia also reiterated his Buy Ghana First policy which he says is going to improve local production.

“I am also going to introduce buy Ghana first policy, today when government is purchasing items, we import them from outside and that does not bring job opportunities in the country.

“If you want to buy school uniforms, don’t go and import them from outside and so this is the policy I am introducing and I know it will bring a lot of jobs into the country,” he added.
