Members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been advised to reconsider their ways for a reformation bearing their humiliating defeat in the just ended elections.

The NPP, who currently have 137 seats in Parliament, will be represented by less than 90 lawmakers in the next House which will be inaugurated on Tuesday, January 07, 2025.

Its presidential candidate who is also the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, managed 41% of the total valid votes cast with 9 constituencies pending as at the time the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the results and declared the winner of Saturday, December 07, 2024 elections.

Results collation of the remaining constituencies have been marred with controversies and have been transported to the national capital for re-collation and declaration.

Meanwhile, some of the constituencies have been declared but the EC says those declarations did not follow due process and has classified them null and void.

The Tesano Police Station and Police training school have been besieged by supporters of both the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) who are both claiming victory in the disputed constituencies.

The NDC, on Friday, December 13, secured an injunction on the re-collation describing it as illegal.

Commenting on the extended coverage of Ghana Decides 2024 on TV3 Friday, December 13, policy analyst and businessman, Senyo Kwasi Hosi, advised the governing NPP to accept defeat and take steps to reform the party than to be creating confusion over seats they have obviously lost.

He stated that members of the NPP are fighting over seats they know they have lost just to close the humiliating gap between them and the NDC and possibly deny the current opposition party a two-third majority in the 9th Parliament.

He said the opposition’s overwhelming majority in the elections was granted them by Ghanaians and the earlier the NPP accepts its fate and move on, the better.

“Nobody decided to give them two-third majority. It is the people of Ghana who decided to bring this situation. You have to live with it. It has its own risk but if you fail to manage a country well and this is how the people have rejected you, take a back seat, look into your affairs and revise your ways,” he stated.
