The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will be the best person to lead the NPP in the 2028 general elections.
He says should the Vice President decide to contest again, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will rally behind him to win power for the party.
According to Aboagye, Bawumia is the best person in the party with the requisite creativity to lead the party to regain power from the NDC in the future.
He explains the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate possesses exceptional qualities which he avers are critical for Ghana’s development and progress.
Bawumia’s leadership, Aboagye added, offers the vision and competence needed to drive Ghana’s development.
“I think that anytime Dr Mahamudu Bawumia decides that he’s going to run, I’m very confident that the party will rally behind him. Because the party is clear in their minds that the man’s level of creativity, leadership qualities and innovation is something Ghana needs,” he said on Channel One TV Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Responding to the question of if Bawumia is the best person to lead the party to the presidency, he said “without a doubt.”
On Bawumia’s recovery from the humiliating defeat ever suffered by any candidate from the two major political parties in the Fourth Republic, Mr. Aboagye said this is not the first time the Vice President has lost a major election.
“He lost as a running mate in 2008, he lost as a running mate in 2012, and he came back in 2016, he has gone through this before,” he stated.
John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was declared winner of Ghana’s 2024 presidential election by the Electoral Commission (EC) after garnering 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) secured 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%. The results, as declared by the EC on Monday, December 09, 2024, had 9 constituencies outstanding due to some disputes.
The NDC also won over 180 seats out of the 276 seats in Parliament, with 3 seats currently in contention over some disputes.
