Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has lauded Onua FM for its groundbreaking ‘SHE’ project, emphasizing its importance in national development.
The Member of Parliament for Banda described Onua FM as a step ahead in media advocacy and encouraged other media houses to emulate the initiative.
Speaking at the Yɛn Nsempa one-year anniversary celebration Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Minister urged the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to integrate the SHE project into its agenda to help address pressing national concerns, particularly sanitation.
“NCCE must add this project to their agenda. Now, by the grace of God, most Ghanaians can vote, but filth is swallowing us all.
“Sanitation is one of our major problems. And I know that while you partner with them, they shall give you the media space to educate Ghanaians on sanitation to help spread the project.
“NCCE, you must partner them,” he urged.
He further suggested Onua FM to annually compile issues raised under the SHE project and submit them to the government for review.
This, he believes, would ensure that development concerns are channeled to the appropriate departments for balanced national growth.
“And if your MP is unable to lobby for your needs, don’t worry because through the SHE project, your problems will be addressed,” he assured.
Onua FM’s flagship morning show, ‘Yɛn Nsempa‘, marked its one-year anniversary with a grand celebration at the STC Yard, Madina Lorry Station.
Launched on February 19, 2024, the programme has made remarkable strides in the radio industry, ranking second in audience ratings as of November 2024.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Onua FM unveiled its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘SHE’ (Sanitation, Health and Empowerment).
This project seeks to amplify developmental themes in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing Onua FM’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community, true to its motto, ‘Yɛ dwene wo ho.’
