The Member of Parliament for Banda and Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has urged newly elected NDC constituency executives in the Bono Region to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work harder to secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
He says the party could not afford to become complacent following its electoral victories, stressing that unity, commitment and effective grassroots organisation would be critical to retaining the Banda parliamentary seat and winning the presidential election in 2028.
Ahmed Ibrahim made the remarks at an acclamation ceremony in the Banda Constituency, where he also questioned the decision to replace experienced executives whose contributions, he believes, have helped strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes.
He argued that party executives should be assessed based on their dedication, performance and contributions to the NDC rather than their desire to occupy leadership positions.
Citing the party’s electoral history in Banda, Mr. Ibrahim noted that the NDC lost the presidential election in the constituency in 2008 and 2024 but secured victories in 2012 and subsequent elections under the leadership of the current crop of executives.
He therefore called for a careful assessment of the performance of party officers, urging members to recognise the efforts of those who have contributed to the party’s success.
The Banda MP emphasised that winning the 2028 elections would require sustained engagement with voters, effective organisation and stronger collaboration among party members to consolidate the NDC’s support base.
He urged the newly elected executives to remain focused on the party’s objectives and work collectively towards securing another electoral victory in 2028.
