Ghana have returned to second spot in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group after Mali’s shocking 3-0 away win over Comoros on Thursday.
The Black Stars had dropped from second place to third after Madagascar beat Central African Republic 4-1 in their Group I encounter on Wednesday.
Comoros also dropped to second ahead of their clash against the Eagles at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
However, the results appeared shocking to all.
New Mali coach Tim Saintfiet, who took over from Eric Chelle after his poor start in the qualifiers, led his charges to inflict a 3-1 away loss on Comoros.
Kamory Doumbia scored twice in the second half after Dorgeles Nene had shot the Eagles into an early lead.
The result saw the Comorans dropping to third place for the first time in the qualifiers, having led from Day 1 until Wednesday, when Madagascar beat CAR to occupy the enviable top position.
A win for the Black Stars against Chad on Friday, March 21 will see them top Group I with an encounter against Madagascar on Monday on the cards.
